Law and Film is one of the interdisciplinary research fields, developed within the aesthetics of law, which deals with the broadly perceived relationship between law and film. People who explore this trend believe that the general public draws from legal cinematography their knowledge about the law, the legal system, lawyers and their work – they believe that the information presented on the screen has a significant impact on the law and its actual perception. This is confirmed by the negative perception of the legal profession by the general public, which is an effect of the way it is presented in films. A negative and unrealistic image of lawyers as well as of the law itself is much more popular than putting them in a positive light, which is bad for lawyers, bad for the law and bad for the general public, who, by watching legal films, develop a certain opinion about this profession. The article aims to present popular film portrayals of lawyers that may adversely affect the perception of the legal profession.
