The present elaboration concerns the issue of the principle of freedom of contract with regard to an employment relationship. Author analyses the freedom of contract in Polish labour law. The historical development of legal regulation on this matters is presented. Author introduces the scope of freedom of contract as far as content of an employment contract is concerned. He also introduces limits of freedom of contract. In this context he presents the ban on discrimination in employment and those statutory provisions which lay down the minimum level of employee rights protection.
