Supreme Court Judge, an outstanding expert in substantive and procedural criminal law

He was born in 1950 in Częstochowa. In the years 1974-1977 a researcher at the Institute of Criminal Law of the University of Warsaw; at the same time he was on legal and then legal training. In the years 1980–91 a lawyer, member of the corporate authorities of the Warsaw Bar, an outstanding criminal lawyer. From 1991, he was a judge in the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, from 1996 the chairman of the 5th Cassation Division, and from 2001 the Department of Legal Matters in that Chamber. Judge Rapporteur incl. in cassation proceedings of Bogusław Bagsik, Lew Rywin, leather hunters. Lectures at training seminars for court judges at all levels, prosecutors, lawyers and legal advisers. A member of numerous teams appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Justice for the amendment of criminal codifications, and since 2004 a member of subsequent Criminal Law Codification Committees. Author of 10 books (including co-editor and co-author: three-volume Commentary to the Code of Criminal Procedure - 2 editions, Elements of the methodology of judge's work in criminal matters - 2 editions and Specimens of procedural documents in criminal matters - 3 editions) and about 250 articles, votes, reviews case law, reviews in the field of criminal law and criminal proceedings. Author of papers for national scientific conferences. Main fields of interest: appeal proceedings and issues of extraordinary appeal, fair criminal trial in the light of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. A member of the editorial boards of the monthly Przegląd Przegląd and Palester and the program board of the quarterly Iustitia. In the years 1991-2014 a member of the National Electoral Commission. Decorated incl. Knight's Cross, and then the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
